What Can a Sleep Test Measure During Sleep?

A sleep test involves attaching specialized monitoring devices to track physiological changes in the body during sleep, including:

1. Brain waves, muscle tone, and eye movement: Determine the sleep stages (light, deep, or REM) and differentiate sleep from wakefulness.

1. Full-night study at the hospital (Sleep Test Type 1: Full-Night):
   This test is performed overnight to diagnose sleep-related breathing disorders (SRBD) and other sleep disorders. It records comprehensive data throughout the entire night.

2. Split-night study with CPAP titration (Sleep Test Type 1: Split-Night):
   This increasingly popular method is performed in a single overnight stay. The study is divided into two parts:

   • The first half of the night is used to diagnose sleep-related disorders.
