9-Valent HPV Vaccine for Children Aged 9–14 Years (Boys and Girls)
Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers among Thai women and remains the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women. The primary cause of cervical cancer is infection with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). This risk can be effectively reduced through HPV vaccination, also known as the cervical cancer vaccine.
Why Should HPV Vaccination Be Given at a Young Age?
HPV vaccination is most effective when administered before the onset of sexual activity, as the immune system responds best at a younger age. Medical professionals recommend vaccination starting from 9 years old and above.
In addition to preventing cervical cancer in girls, HPV vaccination also helps protect boys from genital warts and anal cancer. Therefore, HPV vaccination is also recommended for boys; however, the 4-valent HPV vaccine is required.
HPV-Related Diseases
· In girls: Vaginal cancer, vulvar cancer, oral cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts
· In boys: Penile cancer, oral and throat cancer, anal cancer, and genital warts
