Prevent influenza without injections.
Highly effective nasal spray vaccine
Influenza is a common respiratory disease that can occur at any age and may lead to serious complications. In Thailand, outbreaks occur throughout the year, especially during the rainy and winter seasons. According to the Department of Disease Control, from January to August this year there were 453,629 influenza cases nationwide, among both children and adults, with a morbidity rate of 698.83 per 100,000 population. There were 53 deaths from severe illness (case fatality rate 0.011%). Reports show an increase of about 10,000 new cases weekly.
Influenza vaccination is therefore an important measure to reduce infection rates, hospitalizations and deaths.
Samitivej has recently introduced a new option of influenza vaccine: a nasal spray vaccine—live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV). This is a vaccine administered as a nasal spray, eliminating the need for injections, and It has already been registered and approved by the Thai FDA in Thailand.
